It’s a country full of mystery and culture. China appeals to numerous amounts of domestic and international tourists yearning to explore and experience this enchanting country time and time again a destination thrilling for all ages. The ‘Ancient China’ tour, offers five ancient cities selected for their rich history and culture, we have incorporated three big cities from our main itinerary for those who wish to indulge in China’s amazing past and exciting future. These include  Zhengzhou, Luoyang, Taiyuan, Pingyao and Datong – each city has a vast array of historical sites and relics to visit and are all great places to introduce yourself to Chinese history – every brick tells a story allowing you to absorb the knowledge thousands of years in the making.

Visit almost every traditional spot in Shanghai, such as Yu Gardens with the Old City Town inside and the unique ‘Shikumen’ houses; take a cruise tour along Huangpu River; admire two glorious grottoes – the Longmen Grottoes and the Yungang Grottoes; gaze in awe at the Great Wall and the Terra Cotta Warriors; have Chinese traditional food, like dumpling banquet and Peking Duck Dinner.

  • Day 1:Arrive Shanghai
    Arrival into Shanghai for your three night stay.

    Day 2:Shanghai
    Yu Gardens walkabout;stroll along the Old City Town for bargaining wonderful goods;wander on the Bund;then visit Jin Mao Tower;in the evening,enjoy an acrobatic show.(B/L/D)

    Day 3:Shanghai

    Day 4:Shanghai / Zhengzhou
    Fly to Zhengzhou and stay overnight;visit the National Museum of Henan Province,one of the oldest museums in China;admire famous gorgeous Yellow River.(B/L/D)

    Day 5:Zhengzhou / Luoyang
    Appreciate the famous Taoist monastery–the Zhongyue Temple,then renowned Shaolin Temple;transfer to Luoyang for a two-night stay.(B/L)

    Day 6:Luoyang
    Gaze in awe at on of the three largest grottoes in China–the Longmen Grottoes;then the White Horse Temple-the first Buddhist Temple in China.(B/L/D)

    Day 7:Luoyang / Xi’an
    Travel to Xi’an by train;stay in Xi’an for two nights.(B)

    Day 8:Xi’an
    Gaze in awe at Terracotta Warriors,one of China’s precious treasures;pay a visit to the Big Goose Pagoda and the ancient City Wall;taste a traditional dumpling banquet while watching a performance of Tang Dynasty Cultural Show.(B/L/D)

    Day 9:Xi’an /Taiyuan/Pingyao
    Go to see the Great Mosque;fly to Taiyuan and visit the Jinci Temple and the Provincial Museum;transfer to Pingyao and stay there for two nights.(B/L/D)

    Day 10:Pingyao
    Pay a visit to the historic Ancient City Wall;stroll around Ming-Qing Street;look around the Ri Sheng Chang Financial Hose.(B/L/D)

    Day 11:Pingyao/Datong
    Appreciate the Overhanging Temple;admire the Yungang Grottoes;transfer to datong and stay there overnight.(B/L/D)

    Day12:Datong /Beijing
    Fly to Beijing;stroll around ‘Hutongs’ by pedicab or cycle rickshaw,from where you will get and interesting glimpse into the lives of the traditional Beijing citizens;stay there four nights.(B/L)

    Day 13:Beijing
    Climb the great wall which is one of a kind once in your life time you have to see that.You will be attracted with the scenary in any part of the wall;hanging around Silk Market on your way back to Beijing city area;watch a ‘Legends of Kung Fu’ performance.(B/L)

    Day 14:Beijing
    Visit the splendid Forbidden City,the grand Tiananmen Square,and the architectural wonders of the Temple of Heaven;taste a traditional Peking Duck Dinner.(B/L/D)

    Day 15:Depart Beijing
    Farewell Beijing.This morning is free at your leisure before you are transferred to Beijing airport to board your overnight flight to Australia.(B)

  • Day 1 - Australia / Shanghai
    Check in at the airport on your Cathay Pacific/Qantas Airways flight bound for Shanghai. On arrival into Shanghai and after completing any necessary Customs and Immigration formalities you will be met by your friendly China Holidays guide who will transfer you to your hotel where you will spend three nights.


    Day 2 - Shanghai
    After breakfast at your hotel you will depart for a full day tour of Shanghai. Your day will include a visit to the traditional Yu Gardens; the Old Chinatown with its twisting alleyways and many shops and hawkers and of course the Bund. Then over to Pudong to visit the Jin Mao Tower, still one of the world's tallest buildings where from the observation deck you will get a remarkable panoramic view of the city. There will also be time for a short cruise on the Huangpu River where you will see the contrasting 'traditional' and the 'new' Shanghai. In the evening enjoy a visit to an acrobatic show. (B/L/D)


    Day 3 - Shanghai
    Today we start with a visit to Xintiandi where unique ‘Shikumen’ houses dating back from as early as the 1860’s have been carefully restored. After lunch you will visit the very impressive Shanghai Museum where there will be plenty of time to wander through the many fascinating exhibits and displays. (B/L)


    Day 4 - Shanghai / Zhengzhou
    You depart Shanghai this morning when you are transferred to the airport for your onward flight to Zhengzhou. On arrival your local China Holidays guide will meet you and transfer you to your hotel where you will stay overnight. This afternoon a visit to the National Museum of Henan Province, one of the oldest museums in China and a visit to the Yellow River. (B/L/D)


    Day 5 - Zhengzhou / Luoyang
    This morning you depart by coach to visit the famous Taoist monastery - the Zhongyue Temple, then on to the renowned Shaolin Temple located at the base of Mt. Song. Here there will be a demonstration of this ancient art by the Shaolin monks. You will then continue on to Luoyang where you will check into your hotel where you will stay two nights. (B/L)


    Day 6 - Luoyang
    After breakfast at your hotel, a visit to one of the three largest grottoes in China – The Longmen Grottoes, this will be followed by a visit to the White Horse Temple, the first Buddhist Temple in China. (B/L/D)


    Day 7 - Luoyang / Xi'an
    Transfer to the railway station for a relaxing train journey to Xi'an. Upon arrival you will be met by your friendly China Holidays guide and transferred to your hotel where you will spend two nights. (B)


    Day 8 - Xi'an
    Today you will depart for the Terracotta Warriors Museum, one of China's top historical sites. Here you will see the magnificent Terracotta Army of Emperor Qin Shihuang which has been painstakingly restored by archaeologists. In the afternoon, a visit to the Big Goose Pagoda and the Ancient City Wall. In the evening you will get the opportunity to sample a Chinese dumpling banquet and a performance of a Tang Dynasty Cultural Show. (B/L/D)


    Day 9 - Xi'an / Taiyuan / Pingyao
    This morning a visit to the Great Mosque before heading to the airport for your onward flight to Taiyuan. Upon arrival you will be met by your friendly China Holidays guide and visit the Jinci Temple and the Provincial Museum. Then you will be transferred to your hotel in Pingyao where you will stay two nights. (B/L/D)


    Day 10 - Pingyao
    A full day visit in Pingyao, dating from the Ming and Qing Dynasties and is one of China's finest old cities. Your touring will include a visit to the historic Ancient City Wall, Ming - Qing Street, the Cheng Huang Temple and the Ri Sheng Chang Financial House. (B/L/D)


    Day 11 - Pingyao / Datong
    After breakfast you will leave Pingyao and visit the Shuanglin Monastery, then go to visit the  Qiao Family's Compound in Qi county on your way to Datong. The journey takes about four hours, so sit back, relax and enjoy the scenery. On arrival in Datong you will check into your hotel where you will spend two nights. (B/L/D)


    Day 12 - Datong
    In Datong today you will visit the Yungang Grottoes, one of the three major cave clusters in China, that punctuate the north cliff of Wuzhou Mountain and the Overhanging Temple, built in the Northern Wei Dynasty (386-534), high on a cliff hemmed in by a precipice on either side. (B/L/D)


    Day 13 - Datong / Beijing
    Transfer this morning to the airport for the short flight to Beijing. On arrival you will be met by your friendly China Holidays guide and will depart to the 'Hutongs' the local residential area by pedicab or cycle rickshaw where you will get an interesting glimpse into the lives of the traditional Beijing citizens before arriving at your hotel where you will spend three nights. (B/L)


    Day 14 - Beijing
    Today, the highlight for many a visitor to Beijing, a visit to the Great Wall of China at Badaling. This is undoubtedly one of the greatest man-made wonders of the world and there will be time for you to take in this architectural wonder. In the afternoon there will be a visit to the Silk Market where negotiation skills are put to the test as you seek out some of the many bargains before returning to Beijing where there will be time to freshen up before departing for a 'Legends of Kung Fu' performance.     Day 15 - Beijing
    You will spend a delightful day visiting some of the major sights of Beijing. The Forbidden City, home to two dynasties of Emperors spanning 500 years; the famous Tiananmen Square, the heart of Beijing and the architectural wonders of the Temple of Heaven. This evening enjoy a traditional Peking Duck Dinner. (B/L/D)


    Day 16 - Depart Beijing
    Today you farewell Beijing and China as your guide meets you and transfers you to the airport for your onward flight. Check in aboard your Cathay Pacific/Qantas Airways flight bound for home. (B)


    Day 17 - Arrive Australia
    Welcome home after a fantastic 17 day trip to one of the most fascinating countries on the planet.
